Compass: Teen Support

Compass is a twice-monthly support space offered on alternative school campuses for students who are navigating real challenges and could benefit from honest conversation, judgment-free mentorship, and practical tools for emotional wellness.

It’s not therapy. It’s not a lecture.

It’s a space where students can show up, check in, and shift direction on their own terms.

What Compass Sessions Include:

  • Real conversations about emotions, identity, choices, and mindset

  • Mentorship from someone with lived experience

  • A safe space: no shame, no pressure

  • Take-home tools for self-awareness, boundaries and mental health

  • Free snacks and materials to support engagement

Why Compass Works for Alternative campuses:

  • Low lift for staff: FGO handles facilitation, content, and supplies

  • Trauma-informed, respectful, and specifically designed for alternative students

  • Builds trust through consistent presence and familiar faces

  • Supports emotional regulation, identity formation, and safe decision-making

Student Incentives for Participation:

  • The goal is to affirm student commitment and effort

  • Incentives that are meaningful, without adding pressure or competition.

  • Builds momentum and gives students something to look forward to as they participate regularly.
